Hi! My name is Josh, and I'm 25 years old, a crazy big number if you ask meee
I'm from England, United Kingdom. I speak British English fluently, of course, and I'm currently learning Russian as a hobby, my second language.
I learn purely for fun. I chose to study a second language because I've always admired people who speak more than one language, and the thought of seeing the world through the lense of a totally different language is really interesting to me. I'm envious of people who can speak multiple, and I often pity the fact I grew up in a country where speaking another language isn't really encouraged.
We tend to have the mindset that, because English is (possibly) the most spoken language in the world, and the most widespread, why learn another? It's a mindset that I'm not really fond of, to be honest.
Seeing, hearing, witnessing the world through a different lense is, to me, kinda magic.
Not to mention that it's always good to learn, and the benefits to the brain of learning and understanding a second language is a big motivator for me.
Why Russian? It's very different. Often people study a language close to their country, especially if it's a neighbouring country. And I also really felt like a challenge. It's terribly different to English, of course. Initially I was going to go for Spanish, but something about the look and mystery of cyrillic spoke to me instead. Even growing up, I found myself drawn to the sound of the language for some reason. So really, I've had an interest in it for a while.
Away from languages, a little bit about me.
My hobbies include reading, journaling here and there, spending time with good friends, having a laugh, playing games, and just making the most of the life I've been given :)
If you're interested in a light-hearted, casual exchange, don't hesitate to message! I'm happy to go at any pace necessary, and I'm really not pushy, or forceful, or anything like that at all. Just looking to improve and learn new words while offering English and whitty British slang in return :)

Hello
My name is Lucy and I’m from a town near London in England.
I’m from the UK and I have been learning Spanish for the last couple of years.
I really need help with conversational Spanish and would be happy to offer help with conversational English! I could not locate United Kingdom English from
the list but that is my first language, not American English.
Thank you
